Equality Challenge Unit Research report 2009 The experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans staff and students in higher education
Equality Challenge Unit (UK) supports the higher education sector to promote equality and diversity for all staff and students. This involves working with higher education institutions to develop a shared understanding of the challenges that the sector faces. To date, there has been little research conducted into the experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) staff and students in higher education, and a variety of contrasting views have been expressed about the need for work in this field. This report draws on research commissioned by ECU to build an authoritive evidence base of the actual - rather than perceived - experiences of LGBT staff and students.
